Now, we could have just done the typical job of helping you build your WP website like other teams do. Just show you the basics, leaving out a lot of important stuff. Doing a half ass job that's likely to cause you problems and frustration trying to sort out the gaps in the long run. But it's never been our way to do a C grade job of anything. And we aren't going to start now I can assure you.

That's why we have put this pre-workshop training together for you. So you can go at this website of yours like a pro, and come away with professional results. And YES, you CAN!

So let's get on with it, shall we?

When most people think of building a website, one of the first steps they assume they should take is to secure a domain and hosting for their site. You will need to do this. And we will get to that...but not just yet. Because the very first thing you should do before you build your website or blog is to create your Brand.

Why?

Well, to begin with, you will need to know what you will call your site in order to register a domain name. Without a domain, you cannot have a site. Your domain (name) is an essential part of your Brand. And you should carefully choose the name for your site to go with the other aspects of your Brand; your logo, and theme colors.

Also, having your Brand ready to go when you begin building your site will make creating your site much faster and easier. Because you'll be able to pop your logo right in where it needs to go, and design your site using your theme colors. This is just one area we are referring to when we say "The right way, the first time.".

Because otherwise your site will just look generic until you have these materials ready. And you will be paying for your domain and hosting in the meantime. So having your Brand ready will also save you money.

Make sense? You bet it does.

These branding elements work together to target a specific audience, or demographic of consumers that in most cases have a predetermined opinion of what they expect to see, based on your niche or industry, from a trusted brand.

And you want to be a trusted brand if you want to succeed.

So that's all well and good. Makes good sense and your probably ready to go on your Brand, right? However, while it is tempting to jump right in and start creating your logo, there are some things you really need to determine first, if you want to come away with a well thought out brand that will be truly effective.

You see, your Brand is what makes your website stand out from other similar sites online. It helps you make that all important connection with your visitors. And when someone visits your site, it is best that they perceive it as being highly relevant to what they were looking for.

Remember that our goal is to create a brand that will provide your target audience with a positive experience, imparting a particular persona of your company that they will recognize and trust the next time they see it.  This, in turn, will allow your brand to grow in trust and authority, for increased sales or leads.

Now, no worries. Even if you've never created a Brand before in your life, I'm going to help you get on track here. Developing what is called your "Brand Strategy", and creating your Brand is NOT as difficult as it sounds. Just like everything else, you just need the right information, a little help, and you will be just fine.
